Wtf? How is Smite compared to WoW? :/

I would like to see some statistics about Dota players, I am not sure it's the largest community.

Cheese, the only reason Dota has a high prize pool is cause people "donate" to it by buying certain stuff... and Valve is pretty rich anyway emo

It's like a battle arena in WoW

If you look at stats you will see something along to lines of "DotA 2 has *insert number here* users
Riot CLAIM League has *insert number here* users. But most league players have multiple accounts and most inside sources state half of the others are inactive, so you can't really take Riots "CLAIMS" serious.
However, if you exclude Riots "lets just say the number of accounts ever registered is our number of users" then DotA2 has the highest player base.

DotA2 is a community game, meaning the community CAN fund the prize even without the "donations" it would still be the biggest ever, just atm its almost bigger than all previous tourneys combined xD

Indeed most people have multiple accounts, incuding me. I actually have 4-5, but I only use my main. Most people I know use 2 accounts on the same server (main and smurf) and maybe one more on a different server.
(Smurf means lower level/rank account. I don't know if this term exists in other games)

I heard in a radio broadcast that in January there were 27m ppl playing LoL daily, 67m monthly and 7m playing at the same time in peak hours.
I don't know why someone would play from different accounts on the same day, so the daily count seems legit and it seems pretty high, as well as the peak hour number which can't be fake anyhow.

EDIT: Found this article: http://www.gamespot.com/articles/dota-2-players-now-outnumber-world-of-warcraft-subscribers/1100-6419431/

"Also of note, while Dota 2's 7.86 million players is an impressive number, it pales in comparison to League of Legends' player count. Earlier this year, developer Riot Games announced the game was seeing upwards of 27 million players every day, and an astounding total of 67 million players per month."

So, the people playing League during peak hours are more than all of Dota2 players lol

Those numbers for League though aren't visible to the public. Riot just say a number and we have to believe it. There's an article on the web somewhere explaining how that number is wrong and that Riot got that number by looking at the total hours played, dividing by average game length then time-sing by 10.

Basically, if every game was played by 10 new people every day then Riots numbers would be correct.

Riot are such fuck ups

I think they can see how many people are online in each server. There is no reason to do all of these, it makes no sense, but whatever. I know there are more people in League, I don't really need any statistics. I listen to so many people talking about League on the bus, in cafeterias and pretty much everywhere. I only know one person who's playing Dota actually.

LoL is just more fun to play and balanced. I agree that Dota needs more mechanics, but that's merely just because everything is too OP and annoying. Obviously you need to have godly mechanics if you have to avoid 6sec AoE stuns or 10sec roots or supports' ultis that do 1000 dmg
In League, the highest cc at the moment is a support's 3sec root and so many people are whining about it lol

And League is just superior when it comes to strategies, at least after Season 3 (last year). In Season 1-2, it was too similar to Dota, but I'm glad Riot fixed it and they keep updating the game all the time.

The only thing that's kinda bad is that you need to buy champions, but that's not a problem really.

Whenever I see someone say that League mechanics are better, I get upset. League is a great game, no doubts, but the point is that it's designed for people who is not really into mechanics or tactics, it's for people who wants to have fun. And no, that's not solely my opinion, that's opinion of League pro players.

Anyway, comparing League to Dota is like comparing COD to BF, a lot of people play COD. And knowing that BF is better, they continue playing COD, because it's easier and more fun, and they don't want to try BF, because it will be more punishing.

About popularity, Dota 2 is far more popular in Estonia than League, for example.

But.. but.. I just said that :/ Dota mechanics > League

You are wrong about tactics though man.. I am watching professional games from both League and Dota, and League tactics and mind games are just superior at the moment (I am talking about good teams)

Found this video quite interesting, picked up about 60 hours on Dota 2 this week, sadly lost interest in Smite after grinding it for a few hundred hours.
